A beautiful, illustrated art print.
This print is taken from an original drawing and watercolour/ink painting.
This print features the Birth Flower of September, the Aster. The print includes a card that has information about the history and symbolic meanings around the flower.
The card says; ‘The birth flower of September, Asters (also known as starwort or frost flowers) are a daisy-like flower with many narrow petals radiating out from a yellow centre.
In ancient times, asters were held to have magical powers. For example, it was believed that burning their leaves could drive away snakes and evil spirits.
In general, asters are considered to symbolize love, affection, and wisdom. In the Victorian flower language, they also carried the meaning of daintiness, patience, and charm.
Asters were named after the Greek word for ‘star’. Because, when the Greek god, Astraea, was upset by how few stars there were in the sky she started to cry. And where her tears hit the ground, they turned into asters.’
